Dr. Scott Pike is a graduate of Pacific University College of Optometry.  In 2006 he retired from private practice and is now an assistant professor at the College.  Scott has served as a volunteer and member of several local non-profit organizations.  He started his eye care project in Guatemala in 1997, and has visited the Ixcán once or twice a year since then.


Amanda Terhes worked as program manager for the 13 years before returning to post-graduate study.  She received her Masters Degree in Applied Anthropology in 2007.  She has volunteered for fundraising and program planning activities with multiple area non-profits and is currently an instructor in the Business School at Oregon State University

Susie Kasper

Susie Kasper spent her early career in New York City in Public Relations, specializing in business and finance, and then went into Development. She relocated to Portland, Oregon in 1994. She has worked as Director of Corporate Relations and Director of Annual Giving and Foundation Relations for the Salvation Army. In 2006 Susie became the Annual Giving Officer for the Providence Foundation in Oregon, and in 2007, was appointed Director of Annual Giving for Clark College in Vancouver, WA. She has been an active volunteer in many local organizations.


Dr. Debbie Billings is a researcher on women's health and rights, has worked throughout Latin America for over 20 years on issues related to family planning, migration, social justice and women's organizing. Debbie lived and worked in Guatemala during the early 1990s working with women's weaving cooperatives and then moved to Chiapas, Mexico where she conducted workshops with refugee women about their health. She also conducted life histories and wrote her PhD dissertation about women's organizing in exile. She, her husband and son currently live in Columbia, South Carolina.

Dwight Fleck has been employed in risk management for over 37 years as an analyst, manager and consultant. He has also served as a leader in a boys camping based program for over 20 years. For over 15 years he served as Treasurer and member of the Board of two churches.
